In this Study, the author, Christophe de Voogd, a history lecturer at Sciences Po, offers an in-depth analysis of Dutch society – long viewed as open, supportive and confident, but currently in the throes of a deep malaise marked by a crisis of government and questions over the integration of Islamic migrants, among other issues. Is the populist temptation is the process of destroying the conciliatory tradition of the Dutch poldermodel? This question will be the overriding issue at the coming general election on 9 June.
