On 21 February 2018, the Fondation pour l’innovation politique organised a discussion with Clément Beaune, Europe and G20 Advisor to the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron, on the relaunch of the European project.
In his Initiative pour l’Europe speech delivered at the Sorbonne last September, Emmanuel Macron testified to the urgent need to renew the democratic character of Europe, to strengthen the bonds of solidarity between States and to better define the contours of mutual sovereignty. Five months after this founding speech, Clément Beaune presented the progress made since then to the Fondation pour l’innovation politique, as well as the major European issues that are taking shape for this new year, such as immigration, the euro and digital taxation.
In attendance were Yves Jégo, Member of Parliament for Seine-et-Marne, Pieyre-Alexandre Anglade, Member of Parliament representing the French outside France (4th constituency), Valérie Gomez-Bassac, Member of Parliament for Var, Ludovic Mendes, Member of Parliament for Moselle, Christophe Naegelen, Member of Parliament for Vosges, Jean-Pierre Pont, Member of Parliament for Pas-de-Calais, as well as Liliana Tanguy, Member of Parliament for Finistère and Vice-President of the European Affairs Committee. Many students were also present to take part in the debate.
