Where is democracy going? Democracies put to the test of regionalism in Europe

1

The Fondation our l’innovation politique organised a coffee-table discussion on the occasion of the release of its latest book What next for democracy? (available on Amazon).

At the request of the Sciences Po Republicans, Marc Lazar, Director of the Center for History at Sciences Po and a leading specialist in Italian politics, and Dominique Reynié, Executive Director of the Fondation pour l’innovation politique discussed the state of democracies in the face of the rise of regionalism in Europe, based on the results of the study.

The students were able to debate with our speakers on major European issues: the rise of regionalism in Mediterranean Europe and the democratic tools to remedy it, or the repercussions of independence claims in Catalonia and the recent consultations in Lombardy and Veneto.
